or the 330TRI ( the "I" denoted independent rear suspension). This one-off 1962 Le Mans winner began life in 1960 as a 250 TRI Fantuzzi Spyder and was wrecked and rebuilt twice after successive Targa Florio events. After that regulatory changes allowed the chassis to be rebuilt with a 4.0 liter Colombo V12 and a new body. The 1962 victory was the last overall win for a front engined car. When asked, Phil Hill loved the car, but Olivier Gendebien did not. Running third in the 1963 Le Mans behind new Ferrari prototypes, it crashed and then was rebuilt as a road car. Sometime during its many owners, it was restored to its 1962 configuration and last sold in 2007 for €7,000,000. I just love the look of this body designed by Menardo Fantuzzi of Pininfarina.
This BBR curbside really captures the look. Check the close up of those Borrani wheels.
