Ahhhh! I LOVE IT! I remember when I first saw the Highway 61 Arnie Beswick '66 Pontiac GTO model on display at Prestige Hobbies in Anaheim. All of the So Cal collectors know that extinct hobby shop as THE venue for diecast model cars! I was there with my wife, and I vividly remember I could not believe that a model like that had been produced! It was the first 1:18 AWB model ever produced by a diecast manufacturer! I was IN LOVE!!! I asked my wife to buy the model for me as a Christmas gift! Thankfully, she bought the model, and I have it as the FIRST AWB funny car in my collection! That was my second Highway 61 model. Fortunately, it was done early in the H61 product offerings, and before they realized building one-off models like that one that couldn't be amortized over different iterations wasn't very profitable.
On another note, I used some of the Beswick components (engine, body panels) to create my Don Gay '66 GTO. (Professor Moroni, don't flip out. I found the body on eBay for $20! LOL!
@marty-johnson WOW!!! That's a helluva conversion. I love it!!!
@marty-johnson No, I'm good because I really didn't pay much more than that for the entire MIB model (...years ago ). Somehow, I discovered these can be disassembled apparently before most other collectors did, therefore they didn't sell that well.
(I remember this one ) ...just ANOTHER fantabulous one-of-a-kind vintage drag car. Very cool!
