This beautiful black 1967 Mercury Cougar T/A was the creation of an employee of the Burien Mercury dealership in Seattle, Washington and was one of only a couple of Mercurys to race in the Trans Am circuit in 1967. The car got the acid dip regimen ala Smokey Yunick along with a well designed roll cage, American mag wheels and fat Goodyears. The car still races at historic events an
d still sports the "Dan Gurney For President" bumper sticker.
Fine images of this great race-ready Mercury Cougar replica ! I have SunStar's upgraded standard civilian version of this beauty and it is a favorite diecast model.
I always thought Sunstar did OK on this one; it's look good. Great pics! ...just scuff up the tire thread. 😏 😏
@chris Aaaaw, come on!! I just sprayed Armor All on them. LOL
@grockwood I don't recall ever seeing this yellow version. I have Ertl/Autoworld's orange release - which is like a low-grade/high-end model. 🙄 😕
I have a couple of Sunstar 1967 1968, Ertl 1969 1970 and a Welly 1970. I think the Ertls are better.
@franklemire That orange & silver livery looks pretty good too. 😎 😎
@marty-johnson Very, very nice.
...the difference are those Magnum 500 wheels! My orange version was an Amazon freebie - so I had no choice - otherwise, I would've taken the beautiful blue! 😎 😀
