Jenny Lewis was a busty actress and TV personality in the '50s who took the stage name of Dagmar. Before she inspired Madonna in one of her incarnations, she became forever linked to the 1955 Cadillac and its front bumper guards that became known as "Dagmars".

Taking the Dagmar concept to its extreme is this 1964 Cadillac Cyclone concept car which became the last of the bubble top concepts mainly because it was a redesign of the 1959 XP-74 mainly by chopping off its large shark-fin tail fins to keep in line with the early '60s subdued fins and lower body strakes. The 'dagmars' housed twin radomes as a collision avoidance system. The bubble top was hinged in the rear and could be removed and stored in the trunk sitting on special air bags. The doors slid rearward exposing the entire cabin. It was showcased at the New York Worlds Fair. It's reportedly the last car designed by Harley Earl and resides today in the GM Heritage Collection.

A beauty and a real stunner ..... both the car and the model (and Jenny/Dagmar herself !) Is this a resin release and who is it that makes this dream car ?

@mikedetorrice  Mike I have this model in 1/43 scale and it's made by Paul's Model Art. I believe the 1/18 is also made by them.

@mikedetorrice It's a Minichamps resin. Note: The box art shows the car as it was in 1959.

Thanks, Bob and Rich ! It looks great in both 1/43 and 1/18. I an not real familiar with the replicas of this one, so it is great to hear it has been made in two scale by those model companies.

P.S. It is an attractive dream car and the rear tail-lights have a distinctive Thunderbird-type appearance. However, I guess as a pedestrian, I don't think I would want to get hit by those front  radar covers !

Both Dagmar and that 1955 concept came to mind.

Despite owning a 1959 Cadillac CDV for many years..... I had NEVER realized that these two GM-Cadillac concepts were, in fact......the SAME CAR. 🙄 🙄 🙄  Thanks for the history lesson Rich (...as I shake my head in disbelief  😬 😬 😬)
