Alfa Romeo's speedy little hot rod 2+2 coupe was called the Montreal because the original concept car was debuted in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at their Expo 67 event. The first production car (Type 105.64) appeared 2 years later at the Geneva Auto Show. Powered by a 2.6 liter V8 that produced 197 HP coupled to a 5 speed ZF transmission, it was more expensive than the Jaguar XKE or the Porsche 911 partially due to its build cost with the chassis produced at the Alfa plant, then shipped to Bertone for the bodywork and then back to have the interior finished. The front featured retractable 'grills that partially covered the headlamps which was a compromise solution to different counties regulations on headlamp height. The prominent NACA scoop was non-functional and was there to hide the necessary power bulge (although this AUTOart model features an open mesh grill). The slats behind the door are stylish cabin vents.  By the end of production, 3900 units were built and it took at least another year for the inventory to get sold. The Montreal never saw Montreal because Alfa Romeo never made a North American version to comply with emission control requirements.

Nice pics of a great model I've never heard of, but IMO it's far too busy (and too expensive ).  I certainly understand why it didn't do that well.
