WWll Army Jeeps were being pumped out at a furious rate. Before going out the door, they got a flash coat of Olive Drab with perhaps a star stenciled on and the rest was often applied in the field. They lost their factory finish fairly quickly with the paint and tire rubber oxidizing and rubbed off from use along with the bluing on the weaponry. Lubrication left parts oily black and the tools quickly lost their factory finish. This 1/16 DM Jeep with a mounted 50 caliber just enough pastel and metallizer rubs as well as washes to make it still pass inspection at the motor pool, but still look like it's been in the field.
Here it is next to a factory fresh model (AUTOart):
Excellent all the way around - had Autoart NOT released their highly detailed version (which I have ) I would've purchased this DM 1/16 long ago. Nice pics! 😎
Ahhh, yet ANOTHER model that I told myself to pull the trigger on, but put the acquisition on the back burner and never did. Today, the costs are over $300, and I'm literally out of display space! These are soooooo cool!
@marty-johnson The DM still amazes me for the quality, fidelity, content and operating features. It was released at least a quarter century ago at a time when their 1/24 diecasts were of a quality of a Road Signature.
I added a couple more pics up there including the undercarriage for that oily greasy look.
@rich-sufficool "A+" for the oil, dirt & grime. 😀 "F" for the "CRAFTED IN CHINA" sticker. 😖
@chris Yeah... I should have peeled it off.
