(VID) Just saw this quick review of the upcoming Acme '56 New Yorker St. Regis
Note that the reviewer says this is one of a series. Hopefully they will make it in other colors.
(VIDEO) Thanks Al. Great info... I reposted as a video (not a link). Love the spare!
(PIC) I think ACME's ambitious model offerings is evidence that ...
... the demise of diecast has been greatly exaggerated. As in true GMP/ACME fashion, and unlike DM when they tried to do a similar model in 1:24, the scaling is spot on accurate.

(PIC) Gr8 comparison, Marlowe. I have and do like the DM model in spite of the flaws.
I think DM did a much better job on the DeSoto Fireflite Sportsman coupe. I also have the Maisto 1:18 version. Not perfect but nice enough. These are as close as I'll get to owning a 1:1.

I have it on pre-order. Can't wait.
I also have the Maisto model. It will be interesting to me to compare it and the
Acme one side by side.
Most of my models are low budget/Maisto-type ones so it will be interesting what the difference is when I pay $100+ more for one.
Duncan, you'll be surprised when you see just how bad Maisto's model is. It's underscaled, the top..
...is too low, the chassis is crude, etc..
Let's remember that this 1956 Chrysler was tooled up initially by Precision Miniatures.
Looks GREAT! This was the first Chrysler product to be produced that I really liked...
... and it's always been one of my favorites (though I very-much prefer the "300" version).
I'm also glad to see that ACME is still producing new diecast models! I LOVE their products (especially the "Bat-Man" suit and rocket-powered roller-skates)!
