Like a lot of manufacturers, Volvo decided to enter into 1994 British Touring Car championship with their 850 Estate Wagon. They only placed 8th but the PR lead to a sales increase... Volvos were cool again. For 1995, Volvo released their 850 T5R. They had Porsche tweak their 5 cylinder engine from 220 HP to 240. Porsche was also responsible for the half leather/half alcantara. Volvo added a front splitter, larger brake rotors and 17" wheels to the 850. Acceleration was a decent 0-60 of 5.8 seconds This one year only T5R saw 6964 units built with 4564 Estate Wagons. This sedan is finished in the popular launch yellow.
Always liked this "racy box," sorry I passed on it oh-so-many years ago. Good looking pics Rich. 😎 😎
