First off let me state, "I'm not a truck guy."Â But this diecast 1/18 1967 Peterbilt 359 was just too cool to pass up, let me also say, "This is NO super-detailed CMC truck!"
I saw these 1/18 Road Kings (semi trucks) years ago but there was never an American make, until now. If RKs ever produce a 1950's American semi... I guess I'll want that too.
It was delivered in the largest "diecast box" I've ever received BUT (most importantly!) it arrived without damage. I almost expected to see a dishwasher inside! LOL
It scales out about right, weighs about 7lbs but has limited operating features. The body, CHROME GRILL, BUMPER and frame are all metal! There's a spring suspension, posable steering, a very decent chassis and opening doors with pivoting mirrors. The tires and mud flaps are soft rubber. Glass is clear, chrome is bright. Sadly, the sleeper doors & hood do NOT open. And do NOT look at the dash...the steering wheel is nice but the remaining details are printed on a VERY toy-like sticker/decal.
Details are nice but NO WHERE near the level of an Exoto or CMC truck; of course neither is the price.  RK trailers are not available yet but some accessories are: Scale drivers (seated & standing), wheel sets and some replacement parts.
Â
Naturally.... (Marty knows I would do this 😀 ) ... I just had to pose this Peterbilt with "a car load." The ONLY finished 1/18 semi trailer I have is from my 1955 MHS car hauler project. Yes I know, it's a bit dopy (the trailer is too old and the rig is too glamourous) but I had to do it! I loaded up a few 1967 Chevrolets and, well.... there you go.
.....I'll either buy or make a scale 53 foot box trailer for this "PB."

A real giant !
I have to say that I'm tempted to get one of these even though I'm a race car guy there is something about this 'Big Pete' that just makes me smile!
ÂI'm equally not surprised you hooked up your custom made hauler trailer to it. I would have done the same. LOL! ÂÂAlso, time to dust off the old modeling tools. It just begs for something fabulous to haul behind it. ÂÂ
"Something fabulous"  ... my limited research thus far, indicates that practically any trailer type was possible. Logging, boats, flatbed construction, refrigerated, conventional box, etc, etc..
Like choosing candy, this may take a while. 😌Â

My words exactly as I watched this box being carried up to the porch; then those words were uttered again as I staged pics. If I wanted a display case, I'd have to buy a fish tank! LOL

I suppose I kind of feel the same way. I just had to have it.....  Now imagine a 1/18 1956 Mack, or 1958 KW, or a 1953 Ford COE?  This could all get real serious real fast! 😮Â
Â
yes, this is a mighty 359 Pete....
Great pics...
I am tempted, too.....
Â
The model looks great but I have no room for it. I recently bought one of the ramp trucks and now I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to put it.
Impressive!
@bob-jackman - I feel your pain. I have a ramp truck on order and like you have no idea where I'm going to put it. I'm seriously thinking about cycling out of my display case some of my older "lesser than" models that I purchased when I was buying quantity instead of quality. Â
Marty I should do exactly what you are suggesting.

Bob,
You could buy this "Big Pete" then fashion a flatbed trailer, then put you ramp truck on that. Problem solved! There's space for your ramp truck after all... Â

.....please send all your "lesser than" models directly to me. Some of your "lesser thans" top my "better thans!"
Impressive!
Yes Rich, some aspects are... like the chrome plated METAL bumper and grill; very nice!
