Which BOS 429 do you prefer, the Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen BOSS 429 with the gold paint and stripes or the all Black BOSS 429 the first one to roll off the Kar Kraft assembly line.

When Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen went to Ford he talked Smokey Yunick into doing development work for Ford and Ford sent two BOSS 302 Mustangs to Smokey Yunick, they were Trans Am cars but Ford wanted a car at Talladega so Knudsen pushed Smokey Yunick to enter one of the BOSS 302 Mustangs in the NASCAR race, Smokey worked on the car to make it legal for NASCAR and dominated the race until a push rod went through a rocker arm with only two laps to go in the race. Smokey Yunick told Ford the engine would not last the race due to weak valve train and he was right. The BOSS 429 Mustang was painted to match the two BOSS 302 Mustangs that were sent to Smokey Yunick. Bunkie Knudsen liked Smokey Yunick and trusted him so that is why he talked Smokey Yunick into signing a contract with Ford to do development work for them.

I know you're being rhetorical, and generally I do NOT like stipes. But either of these "Stangers"  would be fine with me.

I like both but have a slight preference for the ‘stripes’ here.

Ahhhh, the Ford "B" lot.  Only salary employees (not UAW Hourly) employees could purchase cars from the "B" lot.  I purchased three of them during my 7-year tenure with Ford Motor Company.  I wish I had known that Knudsen Boss 429 car was available.  I would have at least driven it.  LOL!

Actually no you would not have gotten a chance to drive the Bunkie Knudsen BOSS 429, the employee that bought it was first in line and ran straight to the office to get the keys and took it for a test drive and when he returned there was a line waiting to drive the car but he purchased it so those waiting to drive it never got the chance. Now just imagine if that employee had only kept that car what it would be worth today. Instead its whereabouts are unknown and the car has likely been destroyed.
