Don't forget his Hemi Top Fuel dragster. As a teen, I was fascinated by "TV Tommy" Ivo. It began when I picked up this Hot Rod magazine and it blew my mind! (I still have it)
I found out how many times I actually saw him on TV. From the early days as a Mouseketeer, to his bits in "the Many Loves of Dobie Gillis", "Leave It To Beaver" and a slew of other shows as well as some of those Annette Funicello beach party movies. Here's the Barris bodied dragster. I bought them directly from Tommy Ivo. He was very friendly and still recovering from his accident and he sent me a slew of memorabilia and CDs.
Pretty cool. Who did this 1/18 ? A lot of these I am not familiar with.
Yup! I've heard that Tommy Ivo was really friendly and would talk your ear off about drag racing. That would look pretty cool alongside the twin-engine and the 4-engine cars. Also, your Hot Rod magazine reminded me that I might have the Hot Rod mag with your TV Tommy slingshot rail. And I do have it!
I have to think if you look at the distributor on both the 392 Hemi in Ivo's car and the 426 Hemi in Garlits car that GMP got the firing order wrong on the plug wires. Take a look and let me know what you think. Both engines show the left and right cylinders being in a row on the distributor cap.
This is from summit for a 426 Hemi:
@john3976 Lordie! Never in a million years would I even think of checking the wiring for proper firing order. I could never remember it on my 1:1s back then. If I couldn't replace the wires one at a time, I always had the Chilton's shop manual nearby.

- Amen to that brother! Even I ("Mr. Fastidious!" ) have never thought to ensure the proper firing order was replicated! WOW-WEE!
- Also, yes it's true.... I don't know ANYONE that can go "toe-to-toe" with John regarding Ramp Trucks. Period!
- Lastly, I have a few of these 1/18 dragsters including a RARE prototype... considering they're replicated with SCALE ALUMINUM makes me treasure each one. They really are very well done!
@john3976 You're amazing!

Ha! GMP can't go toe-to-toe with John on ramp trucks!
