One thing that baffles me about beautiful rods and customs is the "no expense spared" on highly modified, high powered engines intsalled on cars that will never be driven except on and off of a trailer for a show. These powertains cost $$$$ I'm sure - but why? Anyhooo, this is a beauty, trailer queen or not.
Why the highly modified costly engines in a custom?
Because it's what the owner wanted. It's his car and his dollars. Get over it. The engines in full customs should look custom to look right with the rest of the full custom work. A stock engine would look right in this car.
Get over it? I wasn't beefing, just wondering why put the $$$$ out. I agree the engine should look great (chrome, clean, etc.) I just don't understand why the power upgrades. That's all I'm saying. I don't think it warranted a smarta_ _ answer.
This car is absolutely gorgeous! It is a very well executed custom. Regarding the engine...
... question, here's my take.
In my C5, I have warmed up the engine with a Halltech Cold air induction system, Lingenfelter/Weiand intake manifold, performance oriented mass air flow sensor and throttle body, and a Bassani low restriction exhaust system. The car has never been dyno tested but we think it added about 50-75 HP to take it to 400-425 HP. Although freeway entrance ramps are my fun domain, I essentially never use all that horsepower. So it begs the question, why have it then? The simple answer is: Because I can. :))
Thanx for a civil response, Marlowe. I fully understand. I just always felt it was a waste of a great mill ( and the moolah)in something never to be driven. But, I fully understand the "because I can" scenario. I drive a Mercedes and a Lincoln, and a friend who drives a Prius always asks why. My response? "Because I can".
Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh,... I forgot the hot-rodders age old axiom! "Too much horsepower is just enough."
You didn't deserve that reply, Steve.
A Real Beauty!
Steve, I apologize for the"Get over it". I didn't mean to be so rude.
As I remember, your prefer pure stock over custom. Sorry.
I agree with you Paul. Seems just about everyday here on the board, some poster has nothing better to post than to flame at another poster. Yesterday it was Bill Flynn on me.
Why is it that some feel that if others don't post just the answers or comments they would like them to post, they have make it an issue? I don't understand that.
All of us have opinions, some stronger than others...I will admit to being very opinionated...but, having or expressing "my opinions", in no way makes me right. But what some here forget is that, whether they agree with an opinion expressed by another or not, the person expressing it, is entitled to do so.
And if they disagree with an opinion expressed, they too, are entitled to share theirs, but they have no right to take the other persons opinion to task. Often though, rather than just offer a counter opinion, they have to degrade the poster. That is immature behavior.
I have no issues with Bill Flynn, or anyone else here. In fact, I enjoy all contributions to board....it would be nice if all just did the same.

I Agree With Steve
I too, like my cars "stock". Where I grew up, we were lucky if we had enough money to buy a car, much less alter it to our tastes. What we did do with any "extra money" we might have had was put it where it would count; In the engine, trans, and drive train.
I agree Steve, He's taken the job of What's allowed in Free Speach, don't pay it any attention,
