What a great car. They sold well here in Australia, recall seeing them a lot in the mid-50s. I’ve kept 4 pics of DMs never made it to production model. I reckon I would have ordered one even before reading Tonys review. I’ve tried, reasonably successfully I think, to replicate DMs color scheme. This car came in some amazing color combos, in time I’ll buy another one and do my own ‘repaint’. My exterior paint job is a bit rough. Painted before Pete R’s tip about a light 1st spray, which I’ve done on the next project and yes it works well, thanks Pete. And also, thanks John N for suggesting Krylon paints. Yes, they are superior but unfortunately only have a very limited color range over here. The grey interior color is a Krylon and went on smoothly and evenly. Note the blackwalls. Model came with whitewalls but after accidently getting black paint on a couple I painted them white with a terrible outcome. And most of the decals fell to bits. However, I am really pleased with the interior. Using masking tape and a chrome pen for the first time. Hopefully over time I’ll become proficient with the chrome pen and will be able to go back and chrome the window frames etc.
This is a great model if anyone is thinking about giving kits a go. Also, it’s readily available and inexpensive.
Heres the DM
And mine, don't compare!
I love this car in 2drht. form. I am quietly hoping that Goldvarg Models do it in 1:43; their '53 Ford wagon was amazing!
Geoff. I think you did a great job with this model. I have this one as well. Have not built it yet. Working on another Semi, a GMC General done in Coca Cola colors as I also have the Trailer to match.
Geoff,
Something is better than nothing... you've done a great build !!

thank you gentlemen, really appreciate your supporting comments. Looking forward to the Semi John. The variety available in the kits is fantastic, and that's just in 1/24/1/25. I've just started a 1/24 Triumph TR3, and the Ferguson 1/24 tractor arrived a couple of days ago along with a 1/25 1969 Plymouth GTX convertible, which I'm looking forward to painting in orange!
Very nice. I was so looking forward to the one from DM, too bad it never came to be.

My father passed on the 1953 waiting for the very similar '54 model because Popular Mechanics told him the '54 would have the new OHV V8. The car was a light green with a white top that because of the reflectivity of the top, we wouldn't need air conditioning. Boy, was he wrong!
congrats on your new techniques acquired, and the completion of another piece Geoff
thank you gentlemen, be interesting to see how I go with the repaint.
Geoff, I echo the comments made by others here. Fine job, and looking forward to seeing your repaint!

thanks Pete, next up is the TR3 where you'll see the improved body paintwork thanks to your tip.

I will look forward to seeing the three you mention!
