On this second to the last day of "The Big One That Got Away Week', I have to say with honesty that when this Brochure arrived, I didn't have a hook on my fishing line, nor was the line even in the water.
I liked the model advertised, but at the time it wasn't a priority model for me. So I placed the Brochure in my files with the thought that some day when I'd added many of the other models that were more important to me, I'd go fishing for this Mustang.
Well the old saying, "Out of sight, out of mind" slapped me in the face, as I'd forgotten about this model until seeing it in my Brochure's file earlier this week. I wish I'd not have waited now, but at the time the Brochure arrived I had several cars on order, so this one for sure "got away" from me.

When this model came out I had never seen an early 1/1 Mustang with a vinyl top. After buying the model I would occasionally see one which made my buying decision a good move in my mind.

A vinyl top on those 1st generation was the kiss of death for a potential young male buyer. The car was not a standout performer to begin with. An optioned car like this would be relegated to what dad would buy as a high school graduation present for his daughter to commute to college. It was just 'not cool'. It was like driving your dad's station wagon to the prom. LOL
@rich-sufficool, I think you're offering an opinion with your comments about this car being "like driving your dad's station wagon to the prom". I'd respectfully disagree, as I knew a few people back in the late 60's and very early 70's that were very excited to own an early Mustang, and they were just young drivers. A male friend in high school in 1969 was one of them.

Hey! I drove my Mom's station wagon to the prom!!! Perhaps not the coolest car in the parking lot, but the back seats folded down, so it worked out pretty well for me. My best friend had a really cool '66 Mustang convertible, but guess who's car we took on double dates....
Sorry you missed this one George. When it comes to Mustangs, this model is in my top ten favorite list. It is a great color and I even like the vinyl top.
