With the plethora of '57 Chevy's that the mints cranked out, this Hardtop in Onyx Black (in my opinion) is the best of the lot. Black is a rich and spectacular color on just about any car, but on this Chevy it's breathtakingly beautiful. Though I personally think we've been Fifty-Seven Chevy'd to death in both plastic and diecast models, if I had to choose just one, this one's it! Loaded with an abundance of operating features and incredibly crafted making it a MUST HAVE model.
Danbury Mints presents the Iconic Car of the Fifties...the 1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR SPORT COUPE HARDTOP
@jcarnutz, I'll just say what I've said many times before, of all the '57 Chevy's that both Danbury and Franklin gave us, DANBURY got 'em right. And as it is with most everything, it's in the "eye of the beholder", and to my eyes Danbury nailed 'em.
I'm with you John N and George. The 55s are my favorites as well. I have this 57 and agree that the color makes it a standout. A friend, an accomplished restorer, did a 1/1 exactly like this and it was drop dead gorgeous. John M I have the color you have shown from both mints. This color was used in many Chevy ads back in the day and I always thought it was attractive.
It is a nice one. The solid black is a great color for the model. I do have this one, but I think it is just a bit plain.
This one is my favorite of the eight I have.
I too, have this two-tone color version and it is sharp. But there is a little story that goes with it. When it was originally issued, I ordered it and then cancelled my order because I already had several '57s and at the time I had four or five other models on order. But I seriously was sorry I'd passed on it and last year I was able to add it to my collection. BELOW is the Brochure I shared sometime back for this model. The color is DUSK ROSE.
