This second series (B) cabriolet bodied by Sindelfigen differs from the 'A' and 'C' variants of the 540K with 4 side windows, a sloping rear end and the radiator set over the front axles. This 4 seat cabriolet is powered by the same supercharged 180 HP straight 8 as the others and was produced in very small numbers until 1940. They were mostly sold to wealthy civilians as after the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, the high ranking general staff went to the larger armor plated models. One survivor, restored, sold for $775,000 in 2023. These open and closed top models are by CMC. I'm amazed at how well the down top was modeled.
Rich a beautiful model, just not something I would collect. Thanks for sharing.
2 old long time favorites. Great pics as always, thanks Rich
Have the blue top up and wish I also had the red/black top down which looks terrific.
This very rare color combo version is striking Bob. Never see them for sale anymore. I know Chav has one in his complete CMC 1/24 collection.Have the blue top up and wish I also had the red/black top down which looks terrific.
Really nice, I prefer the Black and Red top down. CMC is excellent quality.
