In my late teens, I was fascinated by this car especially in the mid-sixties when fastbacks were all the rage. The grandparents on my neighbor across the street would visit on weekends and their car still looked like it just came out of the showroom. The old guy drove so slow and shifted so early, I wondered whether he ever cracked 1000 rpm with it. I dreamed of buying that car and with my buddies, drop some V8 in it and go cruising. That was a pipe dream as we were already 'working on a '52 Plymouth business coupe having acquired a 331 Red Ram Hemi to put in to it. Realizing we couldn't just drop it in and hit the strip, that project sat in the back of my buddy's backyard forever. I had heard that the old folks had died and I inappropriately immediately asked about the Chevy, and was told someone had already jumped on it. Anyway, here's Danbury Mint's model that brought back those memories.
@michaeldetorrice That was one I bought at the 2 for $25 counter at a show a million years ago and painted it up a bit.
Another one where your pics make it look like the real car. Great story too Rich. I look forward to them every day. 💯😊
One of my favorite models in my collection. I also have a 1/43 version by Motor City in the same colors.

@sizedoesmatter That model has one of the most astounding interiors of any 1/24, and your photos really capture it Rich! Sometimes I pull the model off the shelf and just sit there studying it. It actually brings back memories from a lifetime ago of our family’s ‘49 Olds fastback, and I had to be 3 or 4years old at the most.
Love your write up and pictures. Look forward to them Rich. Keep them coming.
