This 2 dr fastback Fleetline Special was first offered in 1941 and production restarted in 1946. Its 4 door version was called the Sportsmaster. The design of the Aerosedan was very popular with 1948 production numbers of 211,861 which was over 3 times its 4 door counterpart. The Aerosedan was phased out in 1952 as sales plummeted due to the popularity of the Skyline design. What a beautiful model by Danbury Mint. The exterior brightwork is sheer perfection with the grill alone a work of art. The interior featured plush patterned upholstery and faux burl wood dash. The whole period look evokes dim memories from when I was a little kid.
Super pictures and writeup Rich. I was eight years old when this car was built but I remember these cars clearly. My dad used to be in a carpool and one of the men he carpooled with, had a 1948 Aerosedan in allover black. Back then and even today, I still think this was one of the most beautiful body styles at that time.
@bob-jackmanIn the early-mid sixties. grandparents of my neighbors would come to visit on Sundays. Grandpa drove a black Aerosedan that was pristine. I don't think he ever drove it over 25 mph. As much as I was into muscle, I would have bought that car in a heartbeat (they wouldn't sell). I sort of envisioned putting a 283 in there but it was just a thought.
Excellent pictures Rich! I was fortunate to add this model when it was issued. Two stand-out features of this model for me are the faux wood interior accents and the headlights. It amazed me to learn that the faux-woodraining was done by assembly line workers on the 1:1 cars. When I restored my Chevrolet wagon I found a company in Florida that revived this lost art. I bought a woodgraining kit from them and woodgrained all of the fiberglass "wood" surrounds. There definitely is a learning curve to it!

@pete-rovero Pete, your wagon is absolutely beautiful. I love the color and the wood graining. The car is very blessed to have become a part of your family and your skill with detailing.
