1963 Cadillac Eldorado "Hardtop"

Hi everyone.

Thanks again for letting me post here a 1/25th scale model. ;

Yes, you've read correctly "hardtop". Although I know the brand for the last 30 years, I had never heard or seen any 1963 Cadillac Eldorado in that body version before, until a couple of years ago. Indeed, Original Part Group, Inc brought out an unbelievable and gorgeous 1963 Cadillac freshly restored for the 2014 SEMA show. According to the group, it looks like only 9 to 12 estimated units have been made at the time, knowing that Cadillac produced only Eldorado "biarritz" convertibles that year. The car is visible on the group website and on Youtube. I guess that if the car would have been made in 1963, it could have been called "Eldorado Seville". I couldn't resist to build one and this Caddy is made from a Dan Decko resin copy of the Jo-Han's Coupe DeVille kit version. Wheels and bumpers are from a kit donor. Regular trims have been sanded and I have created the new accurate "Eldorado" lower body moulding trims. A few details to find and add again such as mirrors, antenna... Hope you'll like it!

Hi John ! Your friend's mothers...

...had one of these special Eldorado coupe ?

Wow ! how lucky he or she was to own such a rare automobile !

These scarce conversions are shown...well, nowhere!. Even in Yann Saunders's bible Cadillac database website they aren't mentioned anywhere. Only a removable hardtop called "Esquire" was made by company Rivera to fit all GM's convertibles from 1961 to 1964, according to the database.

So, looks like OPGI group are the first to talk about these ones. Not a word nor a picture of these Eldorado Hardtop coupe models since as long as I am reading about the brand, more than 30 years ago. That's what's great with passion, always good surprises and secret models to find out... 😉

Hi Dennis !

Skilled craftmen...of course you are talking about the OPGI guys who have restored the real car right !!!!

LOL !!! 😉

They must have taken a few months to give her glory back.

In my case, as I am only able to work on models only 3 or 4 hours a week, it also take me a couple of months to make one, as waiting about drying layers of primer-paint-clear coats takes forever.
The best is to start more than one model at a time...

Btw, I'll share another Cadillac soon. Smile

Thanks for your kind words !
