1968 Mustang GT C.A.Red Tires?
I just received my Mustang G.T. LE. I was lucky enough to order early from the Fine folks @ Vickie's Gifts. I have a question for all the PonyCar experts. The car has F60- 15 on the car. I had a 68 GT w/351 in it with 14" wheels. Smaller engine smaller wheels? I was in the tire business for20 years and do not recall 15" wheels on a Stang ( but that could be my memory for ya LOL ) Any Help?
I had a 64 1/2 cov. with 260 V8
Ordered the day they were introduced delivered 6/19/64. It came with 650-13 tires. Everyone tells me I was wrong they only had 14 inch tires with a V8, but mine 13 inch tires.
My 64 Falcon 260 came with 6.50-13's also.
Delivered 04/64, I couldn't wait the extra time for a Mustang! At least they were 5 lug wheels.
Tire Sizes
Back in '68 the largest tire you could opt for was the F70-14. Mid year, with the release of the '68 1/2 CJ, Goodyear unveiled their new tire line. This was the infamous Polyglas white lettered sidewall tire - 70 series. The 60 series Polyglas GT Goodyear did not show up until around late '69 - early 1970. FM's tire scales out to around a L60-15 with a tread pattern that resembles a B.F.Goodrich Radial T/A. Unfortunately, the orange'70 Mach I, had the exact tire they needed-depending on what release you look at.
