1978 Corvetter Sport Coupe 25th Anniversary Silver 18 years old, low tech but still fills an important niche for Corvette collectors. Relatively devoid of operating features it's still a pretty looking model with tutone paint and delicate pinstriping.
I just put these reduced pictures in the database for those that may not have seen this model.

Inside the spare tire stamping is "Fundimensions Div. GMFG 1977 Made in U.S.A."
It is just over 7 inches long; perhaps 1:24 or 1:25?
No box, as I found it at a children's resale shop quite a few years ago. As I remember, I paid a whole one dollar for it. It really doesn't fit with my 1:43 models, but it just keeps hanging around. Enjoy! David from Forum 43

It's a 1/25 promo in pretty good shape.....
With a little plastic polish and some elbow grease you should get a handsome return on your investment.

A very decent model for it's time and an important piece of Corvette history. Richard, as usual your pictures are outstanding.

1978 Silvr Anniversary Corvette - Thanks for posting the pics Richard;
The Franklin Mint produced this model from my 1/1 Bloomington Gold Certified Corvette many years ago. They photographed, measured, and made hand drawings for a total of three days. It was supposed to be the last of the first six models in the origianl issued set. I too was a little dissapointed about the t-tops not being removable. I was told that they were only allowed so much money to spend on each model, and that they spent much of the money on doing the Silver Anniversay emblems, rather than decals, and tire lettering. There were a few errors on the model; They made the rocker trim plates under the doors all chrome, rather than the black with chrome trim. Also, the Black paint on the underside of the hood at the rear edge was broken off instead of going all the way to the edge. :-/

Interesting, John. I received the Silver Anniversary model in 10/12/92 after signing up for that original six car series which was later extended to at least twelve. The only T-Top Vette received prior to the `78 was the `68 which did have removable panels. Anyway, congrats on having a Vette deemed nice enough by the mints to replicate.

Thanks Roger! I still have it. It has 9.??? miles on it. Most of them from driving to Corvette shows in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, and Mo. I have most of the FM Corvette issued items, including the coin set.
