Does anybody know of a way to remove the top on the '36 Mercedes 540k (blue & white) by CMC? I know the chrome side trim pieces need to be removed, but what step after that? I've seen pictures online with the top off and there is one on ebay now with pictures of the top removed. The model I have the top seems pretty tight and I am afraid to break it. Thanks in advance for any reply.

2 versions of this model were issued; one has removable top, I think that was an earlier version. Later the top was just glued and couldn't be removed. I have both versions. The removable top version really doesn't make sense since there is no folded top provided in the set. Also, the nonremovable-top version has fabric top (pic 3), versus a painted top on the removable-top version (pic 1 and 2).

@chav Chav, I have the non- removable version. I didn't know there were two versions.

Interesting. I had no idea there were two versions and you're right: The removable top format does seem a bit silly with no top down component to replace it. Personally, I prefer the fabric top which is the one I have.
