Here is one of my latest builds. It is the AMT 57 T-bird in 1:16 Scale. I hope you like the way it turned out. I painted it just like my Dads 57. Only my dads did not have a porthole roof and what is funny is that the model box shows the model without the porthole roof as well. The only difference is that I put custom wheels on this model. I did not like the way the stock wheels and rims fit together.
You're welcome !
That's fabulous John. More inspiration for me to keep going with mine. Did you paint the dash. Incredible effort if so.
@geoff-jowett Yes Geoff. I did paint the dash. Thank you, keep building.
Looks great John! I've always loved the look of the '57 Bird. I have a 1/16 scale MPC Trans Am that I hope to build one day.
@pete-rovero Pete, thanks for your comments. I actually just pulled the Trans Am kit out yesterday and painted it. Hopefully have it done in the next few days.
John, in 1957 you could order the hardtop without the port hole windows. Very few were ordered making it a rare option today. I've seen articles stating that only 37 were made.
@bob-jackman Interesting. Well then, My Dads car which is now with my younger brother since Dad passed is a rarity. No porthole roof. I painted my model to look just like his car.
@pete-rovero Pete, thanks for your comments. I actually just pulled the Trans Am kit out yesterday and painted it. Hopefully have it done in the next few days.
Looking forward to seeing your completed T/A. Hopefully it will inspire me to build mine!
Also, concerning the '57 TBird, I have a friend who has one with the non-porthole top. I had no idea they were so rare.
