When this car came out, I was stationed in Thailand and it caused quite a stir among the doctors at the hospital I was working at. The twin OHC, 24v I6, 4 speed car offered beautiful looks and innovative engineering for the time that included McPherson struts and front discs. You could order it tax free from the factory and have it shipped to the docks in Bangkok or, like most did, shipped to San Francisco so when when their tour was over and they processed out at Travis AFB, they could take a cab to SF and drive it home. I was a married E-5 at the time so I had other commitments for my resources. When I heard back from some of the guys, They were loving that car on their cross-country trip home. The ones who got it into Thailand duty free made a small fortune selling them before they left. Thailand, at the time, imposed a 100% duty on all new cars not assembled in country, so the sellers virtually doubled their money.
The model is by Ebbro. Their 1/24 line offered such crisp body lines and exceptional details.
I agree wholeheartedly with John; it certainly IS a stunner! Wonderfully photographed too buddy!
