that looks so good John. You're ploughing through them! Did you use silver spray paint? If yes what type did u use please? I've used 4 different Tamiya spray colours on the Rolls and 37 Chevy van and 3 have gone on great, the 4th, a Racing White on the Rolls roadster is so thin it just runs, even on the slight downward angle on the bonnet top. I now have it at an acceptable standard but I've spent 4-5 days on it, waiting for it to dry and then sand and have another go at it.
I'm amazed at the number and type of kits available. There appear to be 100s in 1/24, 1/25 alone.
@perrone1 Thanks Tony. The bigger kits have a lot of working features.
@geoff-jowett Thanks for the kind remarks. I use Krylon Hobby paints. There paints dry within minutes and usually I will let them cure overnight before I handle them. I probably should put a clear coat over them which they sell as well, but the finished result is usually quite good. The 57 T-Bird I used their gloss black and it had a great shine when done. I just picked up a 55 Chevy Belair Convertible in 1/16 scale which I will work on. I also still have a little over 100 1/25 kits stored away to build. It is now becoming a problem as to where I display them once they are built.
thanks for the quick response John. I've just ordered some Krylon paints from a local supplier.
And....I ordered a new custom display case yesterday, to go with the already 2 full ones! Once the new case is full my only option left will be a new bigger house!
Did you order the hobby paints. I’ve used the regular and they don’t cure as well. If you handle them you will leave fingerprints in the paint. I do use the Krylon Fusion flat black for the under carriages.
Looks great John! I like the silver color. The kit I have is molded in black plastic and has the gold trimmed screaming chicken. It's also a Turbo T/A. The box looks like this:
Don't know when I'll get around to building it, but thanks for the inspiration!
Nice TA model build ! Thnx for the pics too. Please post more pics of your builds.
Steve
Hi John- Great build! For the last couple of years or so I have been building my gathering of 1/43 models, and it's been great fun. No, I don't have the mass of details that the bigger scales offer, but it's still fun. And even in this scale, I've run out of room to display them without displacing my several hundred 1/43 models that I didn't build, just purchased over the years. I'll look for the Krylon Hobby Paints; they sound good. The fast-drying time is helpful, I agree. But I also agree with you about waiting overnight before handling. Keep 'em coming! David ps- Here's the one I'm working on right now, and the 1:1 is what I hope it resembles when I finish.
@d-m-holcombe David is that a 1/43 diecast kit, or a 1/24. I liked the magnum when it came out, but it was underpowered unless you got the hemi. Would love to see it when you are finished.
@geoff-jowett Geoff. The hobby paint which dries rather quickly only comes in small cans. The fusion paint is good, but you will need to let it set for a few days before handling. I see it does say for plastic, but I do not believe it is for Styrene plastic. More for outdoor plastic furniture.
a general rule-of-thumb on any solvent based paint is this:If you can smell the solvent,it`s still flashing
........picture a a flat glossy surface underneath which solvent vapors (picture light smoke) methodically move to and through the glossy surface

@carsman1958 thanks John, and John B, I'll be wary when it arrives.
Just learnt from experience about letting paint dry for a few days with my Rolls! I've touched up the small mess I made and set it aside till late in the week.
