I was watching the 1941 movie "Topper Returns" with Roland Young, Joan Blondell and Billie Burke. The comedy relief was Topper's chauffer, played by Eddie "Rochester" Anderson (with a nod to Jack Benny). As usual, all the characters came from the upper class so outside of a taxi cab (a '36 DeSoto) the automobiles super expensive chariots. I never really got a good look at Rochester's car until the big chase scene near the end where the cars were careening along winding dirt roads. As Rochester drifted precariously around a sharp bend, I finally could capture the car in its entirety... OMG! It's a Mercedes 500K!!! It survived the encounter with a huge Packard going to its grave. The stunt driver of the 500K must have had a ball with it because that car handled like a rally car. Well, it made me take another look at those beautiful CMC 1/24s and here they are:

I'm in love with that specific car. Have the CMC red, yellow and blue ones. Need the white one.

Although the cars aren't something that I'm currently interested in, they are very nice models. You can't go wrong with a CMC model in 1/24 or 1/18.

Beautiful models. I like the dark blue one especially. I have several 500K models but unfortunately no CMC.

I have one color example of each of CMCs 1/24 500K, 540Ks, including the red version of this one. I have one spot left on my Mercedes showcase shelf, if only those so called ebay 'sellers' would put their models to market. There are actually 10 500Ks listed now, at least one in each color, at prices up to $1500! Give us a break!

Another great post, RS, and I have always loved that movie. My fav Benz from that lineup is the 580k. I would love to see a model of this one, from 1940:

I have the red version, would love to add a different colour variant, but they are expensive
