The top of the line firefighting truck in 1925 was the Ahrens-Fox N-S-4 Triple Combination Pumper. The 'triple combination' refers to the pump, tank and hose body that allows for a single vehicle to respond to almost every situation. Its pumping capacity was 1100 gallons/ minute. It was powered by a 996 cid T-head 6 cylinder engine with a 3 speed transmission. Ahrens-Fox was founded in 1910 by John Ahrens and Charles Fox and became a division of HME, the (Magnus) Hendrickson Mobile Truck Company in 1913. By 1950, there were 50 Ahrens-Fox fire trucks serving in NYC alone with the last deliveries of this N-S-4 delivered there in 1930.
