The success of the '57 Ford Ranchero coupe utility raised some eyebrows at GM, so using the station wagon chassis, they created a pickup-like vehicle with cab and bed fully integrated. This allowed Chevy to offer a half dozen powerplants with 3 283 options and two 348 Turbo-Thrust V8s with either a single 4 bbl or a 2X4 bbl with solid lifters. The top Ranchero engine was their 352 V8. The second and last year of this generation would eliminate most of these options as well as the luxe trim packages. The cab used the rear overhang roof option that looked great on the El Camino but I hated the look on the full sized sedans. This exceptional model from West Coast Precision Models offered detachable (magnetically held) full wheel covers with an optional set of black walls. It's modeled with the 348 single 4bbl option with Powerglide 2 speed transmission. With standard 14" wheels the El Camino looks as long as a football field.
What a great looking El Camino! Love the color too. Brian did the Chevy proud!
A real favorite on my shelves, thanks Rich
