Great photos! Have it, love it, keep the sun roof open in ALL weather!
I also have this model of a fairly rare 1/1 car. Nice pictures John.

You're absolutely right Bob. I checked my old review here and in part, I learned when writing it......."Ford and its dealers offered a Chrome Dress-up Kit that is a documented Thunderbird accessory. Remember the days of the "Baby Birds" and their chrome dress up kits for the engine bay? Similar option here (for the "Square Bird"). It included chrome trim surrounding the taillights, the chrome trim at the leading edge of the hood scoop, the chrome panels behind the headlights and the two chrome discs at the base of the windshield wipers. The car is also equipped with the 430 cubic inch Lincoln Interceptor engine. Ford built only 377 cars so equipped and it is said that only 40 of these are known to still exist. Hmm, forget "Square Bird", can we say, "Rare Bird"?"
I had it. The key word is that comment is "had". You will see by these photos of mine, that it is subject to the awful "Diecast Rot". It was a beautiful model and I remember how excited I was when it arrived. Eventually the "rot" was over most of the car and I tossed it in to the garbage one morning a couple of years ago. I'm still sad.

@georgeschire I was going to mark your post with a "Like", but that just seemed wrong.
Sorry about that George. It is always a tragedy when this happens. I haven't had the heart to throw the couple models I have that this happened to. I just packed them up in their box and don't look at them again. My '59 Impala convertible in gray is a disaster, but I still have it.

The only model that I have to carry the 'metal rot' is the DM 1966 green Corvette roadster. Breaks my heart since it was such a beauty in its infancy stages. It has now stabilized to where it no longer continues to disintegrate. But it can be shown, easily believable, as a wrecked vehicle in a diorama should I put one together with it.
Now that is a thought. I could do that with the Impala and the same Corvette, as mine is also a disaster.

Great minds think along the same patterns!

Thank you John for sentiment. Ironic that you mention your '59 Chevy Impala convertible, as mine also is dire shape. Another car that I love so much!
Looks like it was involved in a severe accident. 🙁

I like the "accident diorama" idea. Brilliant guys! Still hurts to see such beautiful models "rot" though.

My 59 Impala, 66 Corvette and the Esders Bugatti have all succumbed to the dreaded rot. A few years ago at the Countryside show in Chicago, I picked up another Bugatti with no rot but also no chrome details. I was able to put the two together and make a perfect model. My 60 T-Bird is in a hard to reach spot so I just assume it is okay...truth be told I'm afraid to look at it more closely. Several years ago I bought out a collection which included the 66 Corvette, The morning I was on my way to the buy the guy dropped the Corvette and it cracked like it was actually made of fiberglass so he gave me the car...it now sits on the back of a rollback.
