It's the oddity of the '57 Mercury that has always drawn me to it.  It completely distanced itself from Ford in styling and developed its own identity for the first time since the 1951.  It would stay radical looking, but different until 1961 when Ford would again make it an almost copy of Ford again.  This model on my shelves has always garnered attention when friends have looked at my cars.  I've usually gotten the question, "What is this one?", when their eyes land on it.  GREAT PICS John!

Is the contrast on the convertible top factory issue ?  I've never seen the like any car and am intrigued.  Would it have been printed on or a separate material stitched on or with the white ?

Have it, love it. Charles, the contrasting color was stitched on to the white. Years ago I restored a 1961 Oldsmobile Starfire which has a contracting piece sewn on over the side windows. This original feature on the Mercury or Olds today is very rare as replacement tops for these cars didn't have this.

@bob-jackman Many thanks.  I shall now be googling 'contrast stripes on US convertible car roofs'  in my coffee breaks 😃.

Lovely model I have all four variants made by DM and they are great..

I believe at the time they were well received and sold well.
