I just saw what looked like a blue one still in its box. Nice truck.
Have it and all the other pickups from DM. They were all great models. Thanks for sharing your photos.
I can't say that I ever remember seeing this truck in red but do have it green.
The red was issued in the Rod & Custom Truck Series - my understanding is that before it was decided a few of the standard trucks were done in red. I just happen to call DM for something else, when the rep told me about this model and asked if I would be interested in it. I took one as I loved the green version I already had.
Now, of course, my memory is not as good as it used to be and my database notes are incomplete, so who knows for sure...

@carsman1958 The 1951 F1 has always been my favorite pickup of the era. I had the meadow green version, but when I saw the Silverton gray I knew I had to have it. It very seldom came up for sale, and when it did it was out of my reach. I finally grabbed one up at a decent price and it’s become one of my favorites. I very much like the beautifully photographed
red version posted, may add that one later.

@jcarnutz Thanks for that information John. Sounds like you were at the right place at the right time.
@kevins Another one I missed. When this was introduced I was out of town and when I got back a few days later it was sold out. Nice picture Kevin.
@jcarnutz I actually owned one of the red customs, but have since sold all of my customs to make room for more stock versions that I now prefer. The custom was a very cool model and tastefully modified but I remember it being a very deep metallic dark red unlike the stock red version shown. Also thanks to John for the compliment.
That's probably right - I don't have the model. I seem to recall something about them being made in small numbers, but I don't remember the reason for sure. My database info is very vague - I hate when I do that. Oh well!

@jcarnutz I very seldom see the stock red ones on eBay so there are probably not a lot of them out there compared to the the green ones. I keep threatening to buy a cheapie green version and do a black repaint.
