My favorite of DMs 3 1957 Ford Fairlane models. With the majority of these 1:1s being issued in 2-tone combinations it is uncommon to see one in a solid color. Of DMs three and FMs four models issued, this one is the only solid color.
1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable Hardtop in Dresden Blue

It is a beauty for sure and Dresden Blue is a gorgeous shade but the 2-tone is my fave combo for this Ford.
Always thought it looked different and way cool in solid blue!
One I missed out on getting.
I have the DM Green/White and the DM Black/Red versions, they are beauties to behold. Also have the FM Red/White version, it's nice too, but not as perfect as DM's replications of it (in my opinion).
Because I pretty much consider my 1:24 diecast collection to be done and complete, unless this Dresden Blue version (or any other 1:24) were extremely cheap to pick up and be in decent shape, I've no desire to add to my collection.
I've reached the age where enjoying what I have is my joy, and I do every day.

Beautiful model and excellent pics.
As nice as the model is, it would have been more attractive if it were painted in two tone blue or in Ford speak, Style-Tone. This car was designed to highlight paint color separation. While I'm ragging on it I must add the Skyliner trunk is quite awkward. It would have looked more refined as a Victoria 2-dr hard top or as a Sunliner convertible.
Just my opinion of course.

It does look great in that color. I still don't understand why we got so many Skyliners from DM/FM but not a single hardtop or convertible. Those were what I was waiting for.😢
I agree. Although the modeling of the retractable hardtop is magnificent, the top up look of the car always looked a bit clunky to me. The standard hardtop always looked much more sleek. It does look great in that color. I still don't understand why we got so many Skyliners from DM/FM but not a single hardtop or convertible. Those were what I was waiting for.😢
I was also hoping for a pickup in their pickup series.
and they had the station wagon structure in the Edsel wagon and could have given us this…
the ‘58 Edsel was mostly a Ford body anyway.

I had a '57 2-door wagon and 1957 has long been a favorite. I liked the Skyliner because it was unique.
John M.; this pickup you posted reminded me that I would love to see Ford, GMC, Chevy, Dodge, International and even Studebaker pickups from the mid 1950s through mid 60's done in 1:43 by Goldvarg, GLM, Matrix, Esval or the like. You may recall Goldvarg did a nice '65 Ford short box pickup years ago that I have and love.
I would welcome any and all pickups for the late 50s and early 60s. They are all highly styled and wonderful examples of earlier workhorses. For the most part these are way under-represented in model form.

@jack-dodds Mine was light blue and I would take any of these. Thank you for posting the pics.
