This morning I decided to spend another day with DMs '58 Impala. I hope that is acceptable. This is a very nice model and since several color options were made available, I thought I'd feature these two.

1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible - a LE of 5000 in Onyx Black (this is the 2nd of these models I've had in my collection, sold the 1st one. Which I regretted almost immediately; it took a couple of years to find another one.

Along with the convertible, DM offered a hardtop in one of the best color combinations available in this model. It is the only one of the three hardtops that came in two-tone colors.

Although never a fan of black paint on certain cars, I have to appreciate that specific '58 Impala in its convertible variant, FAR more than the coupe form. The fact that it is presented, in your marvelous photos, sans conny kit and wimmin's skirts, makes it all that more enjoyable to look at!

Have both.  The Sierra Gold/Arctic White hardtop is especially hot!  Love it!  Though I'm NOT a fan of continental kits, I've always felt the '58 Chevy is one of the few cars that can wear it well.  It just looks good between those curved tail fins.  With regard to the black convertible, for some reason without the fender skirts and no conny kit, it looks stubby and short.  And top when on, looks too high.  None the less, I love the model.  GREAT PICS JOHN!

Two that I have along with the Aqua original version convertible.  Great additions to my collection.

Love your pictures, John!  I finally acquired the black convertible last Christmas. I call it my "Thrill of It All" Impala in honor of the car that James Garner drove into the swimming pool in the movie of the same name.  I wonder what became of that car.

Never seen the James Garner movie you shared Pete.  One to look up.  I love his Maverick and Rockford characters.

@georgeschire

Doris Day co-stars in the movie (1963) so you know it’s good old wholesome entertainment!  Love the Rockford Files too, not familiar with Maverick.

The original "Maverick" TV series was a Western from the 1960's.  It starred James Garner as Bret Maverick and Jack Kelly as Bart Maverick.  The shenanigans the two delivered in the show were hilarious.  Garner left the show after 4 seasons.  Check it out Pete, it's a goodie!
