Great looking Continentals John.

I say we find Popeye Doyle and peel open the rocker panels of that brown MK. III; I bet we'll find heroin stashed there.

These are great pics John!  I've got the the first two in other colors, but not the Automodello version.  I know I've said it a couple of times already, but I'm so happy to see you posting again.  Your posts are always some I look forward to.  Continued wishes for good health to you!

Great pics, beautiful display. My favorite one of the '41 variants!

I too like that '41.  I have the blue convertible and the maroon convertible.  The latter one was purchased from the Franklin Mint store that was in the Mall of America in the nineties.  You may recall that I'd mentioned in previous posts that I worked at that store (just for kicks and giggles) for a short time.

As an employee we got a 15% discount, so while there I added that Lincoln and four or five other 1:24's.  This was during the heyday of 1:24 production from the mints, and the FM store manager said that 67% of their overall sales in the store came from diecast model sales.  And they sold all sorts of collectibles there, but it was the models that were the draw.

That incredible fact alone has always amazed me that Franklin (and Danbury) Mint couldn't and haven't found a way to keep the 1:24 market going.  I'll just never understand how, here in America, we can't find a cost effective way to produce decent 1:24's.  Even if they were totally a static model with no moving parts, there just has to be a way.
