In 1995 the Franklin Mint issued their example of one of the cutest cars to ever run the American roadways. In the 50s, there were only a few cars being built that defied the trend of bigger, brighter and bolder. The Nash Metropolitan was one of them. The car was built from 1953 to 1961 with sales extending into 1962 to clear inventory. During its production run, the car was marketed under the Nash, Hudson and AMC brands.
FM originally issued their 1st model in Snowberry White & Caribbean Blue, an excellent color combination. This was followed by a Police Chief's car in black & white and a Fire Chief's car in red & white. Finally issued as a Limited Edition in Snowberry White & Ballerina Red. That final model is the one I feature in today's post. It joined my collection in 2020 and was one of the last few models I added in this scale.
1956 Nash Metropolitan Coupe, LE #274 of 2500

How can a person not like this cute little bomb?
I loved the car (my buddy had one) and a Nobel Prize winning economist visited my mother in one (I was so expecting a limousine). The first run blue and white model suddenly swelled up and a bloated door fell off. I hate when that happens.
@rich-sufficool I have the blue error version and this one. So far the blue has not disintegrated.

I don't like it. An early "Smart Car".
