The Kaiser Darrin has always fascinated me. I find it curious that Kaiser would have devoted the funds to design this car when they were almost out of business by this point. Although, that seems to be the story with many manufacturers toward the end of their business, Hudson, Packard, Studebaker and a few others devoted critical funds to build that one car that wouldn't save them no matter how interesting it was, yet they did it anyway. Looking back, as a car enthusiast, I'm very happy that they did, these cars enrich the landscape of the American Auto Industry.
The Darrin was an intriguing car, far from perfect in its overall execution, but it does present an interesting car to enjoy and appreciate today. Automodello brought us this gem in 1:24 scale and was available in several interesting colors. I would have appreciated having all of them in my collection, but I decided I would only pick just one. My first choice was the white version, mainly because it was the color I'd seen the most of, and a good friend had one as well, so it made sense to me. As it often happens, an opportunity to add a 2nd one presented itself, and I chose the red, you can never have enough models in red, right.
The Automodello Kaiser Darrin models are exceptional, well executed and a real stand-out in my collection. Although, they are very delicate, especially those wing windows.

I wonder John if these often wonderful last gasp designs are completed in the hopes by the designer that at least they closed with a lasting memory. A legacy!
Beautiful shots John!
Absolutely beautiful ! Those models look like 1:1's waiting to be judged at a Concourse Car Show.
I have this model by Brooklin but I have to be honest and say that the grille design does very little for me. Great pics though John!
Wonderful model and pictures John. I only have the white one but all of the colors looked great.

great pics John, I too have the white model, and yes dont leave it near an open window on a windy day!
For me the Kaiser Darrin = pocket doors. Great pics, love it in both colors, but the while issue steals the show.
