Well, the weather has calmed way down and it's actually very nice out now. So let me try this again...

Franklin Mint's 1956 Ford Thunderbird Roadster

FM issued this model in four colors from 1992 to 2006. I bought my 1st one early on in my Precision Diecast purchases, at the time I felt it was the only one I needed. It was the 2nd color issued by FM and was released in 1995, I added it in late 1998. The model was finished in Fiesta Red & Colonial White.

The 1st Thunderbird issued was the 2nd one I added to my collection. It was issued in 1992 and was finished in Thunderbird Blue & Colonial White. I came across this one on the secondary market in 2005 for a price of $30, one I couldn't resist, although used, it was in MIB condition. When it arrived, I was quite surprised how much more I liked this color over the red version.

The 3rd version came in Goldenglow Yellow & Colonial White, it was issued as an Independent Retailer's Limited Edition, #373 of 1000. It was in 2012 when I came across this model and at a price that couldn't be refused, just $40. Listed as NIB, it was destined to be a part of my collection. This bright yellow definitely makes a statement.

It was just a few months later in 2012 when I came across the 4th version in a D4C auction. Listed as an Official D4C Photo Sample used in Tony Perrone's model review. I was intrigued by the uniqueness of the model. It was also a Limited Edition, #746 of 2500. When I won the auction, this became the 4th and final FM version to join my collection. It is finished in Sunset Coral & Colonial White.

So that's the four FM '56 Thunderbird models that reside in my collection. Each one has its own voice and when I look at them, I am reminded of how much of a variety existed in colors from the 50's. I like each one for its different attitude, which one do you like best?

I like the Thunderbird Blue best.

What beautiful models in all colors here. An early series Ford Thunderbird .......a true classic and automotive knockout and it certainly makes for an excellent model.

Great post John. I have the yellow and blue versions. And a slightly different shade of yellow Unique Replicas version, which is excellent quality.

Nice flock of Birds you got there John.  I'm torn between Thunderbird Blue and Sunset Coral.
