Several members suggested I try a Danbury Mint model, to compare to the Franklin Mint models I was buying.  So, being the obedient seito, I took heed and bought a DM 1949 Jaguar XK120, this week.  I looked at several and the seller of the one I purchased noted  the following: 'Danbury Mint produced two editions of the Jaguar XK120.  The first edition, which is often offered for sale, has a cockpit made entirely of red plastic.  The seat is not a separate part.  The subsequent version has a more elaborate cockpit design.  The seat is a separate part and has a leather-like cover.  The dashboard has holes for the clocks, giving it a more realistic appearance.  The steering wheel is also slightly more delicate and the details on the inside of the doors are color-coded.  This model is one of the latter.'

It came complete with the original box, COA and, miraculously, it's 'spats.'  I prefer the car without, for the time being.  He also included a small section of aluminum tubing he added to the tailpipe, which I lost during the exuberance of unpacking the new arrival.  Fortunately, I do believe I can find another and I agree with the seller that the addition does add to the design.  The car arrived in mint condition and, another miracle, with no parts falling off.  I now need to find a 'driver' for it, or at the very least a very stylish young woman stepping out of it.

The difference in interiors between the second edition and the first are discernible, once one knows what to look for, and the steering wheel on the second edition has a 'wood' look, unlike the first:

@gdh

I have both but my more detailed version came from Danbury Mints minus the spats. It comes from China. I do prefer, like you, no spats.

The hood emblem on the second edition which was made in Korea, is a decal while the better detailed China version has an embossed badge.

The Korean version is the older one.

@david-green  I don't have enough space available to have dupes of most of my models, though I would like to have a FHC model of this.  On another note, I have a weird penchant for spats on larger cars, like Phantom Vs, but not so much for the smaller cars.

nice, great pick up. I have this and FMs version. I'm repeating myself I know but I wish one or the other mint had made the model in a different color! Or a hardtop version?

@geoff-jowett Geoff, I agree. A fixed head coupe would have been nice.

@bob-jackman I also agree Geoff and Bob.  I have this one and like it very much but it's not one of my fave colors; plus a coupe would have been a must have for me.

@geoff-jowett  I looked at a few of the FM Jags, including the 1952, but the door gaps on them seem larger and that put me off the model.

A nice looking model, but not for me.  Glad you gave DM a look, as they often outdid FM in quality and perfection to precision replication.
