Be careful! This seller is offering ridiculously cheap prices but he has zero previous transaction history.....could be a scammer.
I agree, just be careful Kev. I'm embarrassed to admit I got suckered once like this. Thank God for PayPal. I did get my money back. It was on the Hachette Maverick. I did finally get one from an honest seller.💯
Ordinarily a zero rating can be overlooked with just a small amount of judicious poking around. A look at his other items doesn't hold any red flags. He has one other diecast and while it isn't exactly a give-away, it is priced very low. DM '33 Coupe Buy It Now $75. $6.53 shipping.
My biggest concern would be his feedback of 0 but 8 sales, since April of the year (going on 4 months) and no positive feedback. Info found when clicking on his 0 at end of his seller name.
@perrone1 Thanks Tony and Geno, I too saw some red flags, it’s very hard to tell nowadays who’s on the up and up. Years ago I saw an eBay auction offering over a 150 Matchbox models, from the 1950’s, pristine in boxes, untouched for years for right around $50.00 buy-it-now. I almost hurt myself jumping on the prompt. Later on when I had cooled down I started worrying that I was scammed, that was way too good to be true. About a week later I received a good sized box on my porch with a fantastic collection, just as advertised. I made shelves and displayed them for a few years until I decided to go with DM’s, and here I am. I made thousands on that deal, and here I am, a successful pillar of the community! (Well maybe not all that, but I did good.)
@kevins WOW, I'd say you did great. Like you said, its tough to tell who's on the up and up nowadays. So many unscrupulous sellers.....sadly. You just gotta be careful.💯😊
Interesting stuff guys. I've only ever had a couple of issues with crooked ebay dealers after 22 years. My biggest problem is ebay itself and its sales and shipping procedures. The number of ridiculously high priced items there now because they scrapped listing fees, and their global shipping program is a disaster. I've had items come from the U.S to Australia, via Japan, pass through 30 odd depots, nearly always arrive with parts fallen off. And the prices are diabolically inconsistent. Same model can have anywhere between $30 and $130 global ebay shipping cost.
Always err on the side of caution, when I first started (naively) collecting I purchased two WPCD models with out checking out the seller's feedback and sales record, they arrived in there original boxes without the shell rattling all the way from the States, at that time you had to pay return shipping, I only got a rude response from the seller, and noted his very poor feedback, the seller disappeared not long after...... @geoff-jowett agree, shipping costs on ebay to Australia vary so much a model listed for a reasonable price with unreasonable shipping costs. Collecting DM, FM, CMC etc can be an expensive hobby from Australia, with the exchange rate, shipping etc but I still love collecting them :).
@geoff-jowett I agree Geoff...I avoid sellers associated with Global Shipping whenever possible. They won't even do combined shipping.
