With all that copper plate and tulip wood, this 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Tulip Wood Torpedo really lights up in the sun. The car was equipped with an 8 liter SOHC straight 6 developing 200HP through a 3 speed transmission, which it why it had a 46 gallon gas tank! The origin of the engine was half of a Nieuport aircraft V12. This beauty was commissioned by Andre Dubonnet as a light weight race car. The body, also built by Nieuport Aviation, is riveted strips of tulip wood that only weighed 160 pounds. It was also equipped with 4 wheel power assisted drum brakes.
The 1:1 now resides in the Blackhawk Museum.

That is a beautiful model. Wonderful photos.
I considered it a couple of times, just never went for it.

@jcarnutz I'm a sucker for bright shiny objects. LOL
This is one of those models in my collection that generates a lot of questions during tours.
Car buffs the world 'round owe a debt to Andre Dubonnet, for this spectacular car and also his 1938 Hispano-Suiza H6B, Xenia collabration with coachbuilder de luxe, Jaques Saoutchik and aerodynamics engineer, Andreau. Thanks Rich', for such excellent photographs and history.
@charles-rockett I'll put the Xenia up on Forum 18. I love that one too.
