Don't think many Western countrys 60+years old would not know of this iconic beauty.
Nice kit. Bonnet does not quite fit. I'll try a warm water bend. The Sunbeam was popular here in Australia, although I believe mostly less powerful Alpines were sold. Also I recall seeing more of the Series III (1963-64) high finned versions
Somehow I have to find 1/24, 1/25 Max, 99 and the Chief figures. A friend who saw the model on the weekend immediately said "Max should be behind the wheel". I have searched quite a bit already to no avail. Any help will be appreciated.
Always loved those Sunbeam's, especially the Tiger. GREAT build Geoff!!
Geoff, that is so cool. I love these as well. It would be great if you could find those figures.😊
I had two Sunbeam Alpines in the 1960s. Wanted a Tiger Mark II but the price put me off at that time. Got to keep one for a week. It had the Ford 289 V8. The Alpines were Mark IVs with 1725 cc inline four cylinders. Peppy enough at the time.
Nice build Geoff.
Very nice Geoff I'll keep an
out for Max, 99 and the Chief when I'm prowling on line for bits and pieces...
thanks guys, much appreciated. As for figures these 1/24 are sold as Max, 99 and the Chief but do not look anything like any of them. The search continues.
Its great to see appreciation for British sports cars. As mentioned they were popular over here. Really pleased I have been able to add a 1/24 diecast or plastic kit of most of them. Firstly sadly missing these 2, and they are probably my favorites, the MGA and MGTF. These are Finecast white metal kits, expensive and hard to find.
here is what I do have: Jaguar XK120 and Triumph TR2 and TR3A
Austin Healey 100-6 and Austin Healey Sprite
Jaguar E-Type and MG TC
When I was a kid I had a Sunbeam Alpine 1/25 model with which I lifted the front end and dropped a hemi in it.
@geoff-jowett Years ago when I was in my twenties, I had two 1956 Austin Healeys but had to sell them when I went into the service and lost my storage. I miss those cars even today but I no longer fit into them. Today my remembrance of the cars is 1/43 scale models I had K/R modelers make of them.
