This one-off 1956 Continental Mkll was commissioned by Ford's Continental Division and built by Derham Coachbuilders with an eye towards offering it in the future. Unfortunately, the prestigious Mark ll program was cancelled the following year being just too expensive to build losing $1000 for each unit sold. As a kid, I hated the over-chromed land yachts of the era preferring the clean styling of both this Mkll and the Chrysler 300 letter cars. The closest I ever got to owning one was getting that beautiful 368 cid V8 from a wrecked Mkll and putting it in my '56 Mercury Montclair. This car was owned initially by Martha Firestone Ford and kept pristine by its second owner from 1962 to 2022 when it sold at auction for $296,500.
What a beautiful model, and a huge hole in my collection. Thanks Rich
@perrone1 Maybe it did include bikini girl Tony....did your missus open the package by any chance?
