I knew about this model years before the MI-seller showed up on eBay, I had numerous discussion here with Phil who did not believe me this model existed. I had one that I bought on eBay for $200 at least 2 years before the MI-seller showed up. I believe this model was commissioned for the 100th Buick anniversary in 2003 and some were given to GM employees. However the majority of the batch remained undistributed until the death of the owner of this marketing company and when they were discovered by his son he offered them for sale on eBay, I did exchange multiple messages with him at the time, because I wanted to establish the size of the batch, he did not disclose it but he pretty much told me there is a "pallet" of them. Tony is right that the MI-seller was selling them one by one probably to keep the interest in them, he was unware about the history of the model. But also he was in a way honest with me because at some point I even offered him to buy the majority of batch, and he pretty much told me "no, the cars are too many", then we lost touch. This was at least 2 years ago, and he still sells them.
The first pics of the model I took are form March 2019, this is the one I paid $200 on June 21, 2016

The big batch from Mi started selling on eBay in June 2019, I purchased one on June 23, 2019
My favorite of these is the original blue version, because of the metallic paint. It just sparkles in the sun. It makes it really pop. JMHO though.
Thank-you for all the extra info.
I only have the blue one but it's not stock as it has chrome reverse wheels. I picked it up real cheap at a model show.
