Another 59 Cadillac? Come on already!

I fully understand that the mints have to get the most out of each car, and as such, we end up with different colors.

But come on! A "Red Hat Society" edition of the 59 Cadillac Series 62 convertible is too much!!!

I will never be convinced that this issue will be a top seller. We wait for so many cars from the mints, and they toss us this car, that wasn't even a real car.

Yes, this is a complaint! It makes me angry! Add to the fact that, we've been 59 Cadillac'ed to death over the years. While some cars that would be top sellers too, just don't get produced.

🙁

George... get a grip! DM is doing this to make MONEY and...

... lots of it. You and I (and the rest of us crazed collectors) are NOT their customer for this car. However, the 1.5 million Red Hat Society members (and their families via gifts) most definitely ARE!

Marlowe....if DM sells 1.5 million "Red Hat"

Cadillacs, I'll say I was wrong. But, I'm confident that is not going to happen. Sorry, but I just don't see the market for these types of cars.

A few years back, DM gave us a "Betty Boop" 57 Chevy convertible, and that was another joke.

I want real cars...not cartoons!

And with regards to your comment that, you and I are not their target customers....if that is the case, than DM (and the other mints) are making a huge mistake. We buy lots of cars from them. Why? Because we are collectors, and we always want more.

The folks that buy "one" car from them is never going to make them a huge profit. I worked with a guy, who bought a 1940 Ford coupe from DM, and that was it. Why did he buy it? Because his dad had one when he was growing up....but, he was not a car lover, and most likely will never buy another DM (or other mint) car.

DM sure made out well with him didn't they? They got his $120 and that's it! Now, they send him flyers etc., and he throws them away. Is that cost effective?

Then there are fools like you and me, who buy just about every car the mints release. I ask you, who is the better customer, and who is making them money?

I've said this before, but will say it again. I don't always think that DM and FM have a pulse on the collector market, nor to they understand the collector mind. The very word "collector" means that, we always want more.

We are the mints bread and butter!

Look at it as a Red Hat collectible.

It's not intended for diecast car collectors, it audience is Red Hat collectors, one of ten items that Danbury produces for them. It's not even the most expensive.

It may turn out to be a sleeper too.

If not a lot are sold, it could become one of the low volume collectables.

Maybe I should buy one after all.

Naw, I guess not!!

DM can produce funny cars for the Red Hats, but they can't produce real cars like a 59 Dodge or 57 Olds (and others that would sell like hotcakes) for their serious and loyal customers?

Does DM (and FM) care about us? They have a funny way of showing it, if they do.

I know you're not the only one who agrees Ronald.

We as the serious collectors and loyal customers to DM and FM, continually ask for Dodges, Oldsmobiles, and some Buicks.....and all we get is more Chevy's, Cadillac's, Pontiac's, and Ford's. And now, make believe cars (i.e. the Red Hat Caddy), come before the ones we ask for.

Do they take us for granted? Sometimes I wonder.

George, I agree with what you say.....

But do we really know how big the audience may be for the Red Hat special vs the audience for the cars we want?

What if there's only a couple hundred orders for what we want, while that lovely (yuck) Red Hat Caddy attracts many hundreds of orders form the ladies who also get the DM catalog.

Seems very unfair to us, but you know DM's on a roll lately, guess they figure this will do better? X-(

Besides their cost is only for a couple of Plastic figures they aleady had the Cad

Its just a repaint with hardly any investment and as Marlowe stated there are 1.5 million Red Hat Members who could be the elated recipients of this bit of Red Hat Nostalgia. Would I buy one Shit- NO.
But if they sell and DM makes money they will spend some on new things we want that is what we have been trying to show you.
