During my search for more jewels to add to my group I encountered another that I thought was an opportunity, but has become somewhat troubling. This topic refers to the Franklin Mint 1929 Hispano-Suiza Tulipwood body, in 1/24 scale. I have reviewed several and the prices are far and wide so I dropped my net in the middle and out of three choices came up with this one. Now, the seller said the car is in 'like new' condition and was never 'played with.' I always discount fifty-percent of what they tell me and I noticed the front tires weren't parallel, so I asked him about this and he sent a photo of the undercarriage. For my own peace of mind I slipped the file into PS and saw all four wheels are not running in tandem/parallel (see last photo), and my question is this: am I being unreasonable in expecting the wheels to line up?
I have found non-precise wheel alignment to be a frequent issue with both FM and DM models. The design of this beautiful Hispano lends itself to having this be more conspicuous. There may be a bit of "give" when you position it on display to lessen the effect I see there. Also of course you may want to consider the standard you expected for the money you paid. My position would be, if I didn't pay top end price, to keep it especially if it offers that bit of give I mentioned. Just one person's opinion. Our resident model guys may have an easy fix too....who knows!
JMHO, it looks liveable, once on the shelf most would probably never notice. I've got a few like that, that came that way new. 😊
good on you for checking with us! I'm going to maybe confuse the issue and say no. I feel it is too noticeable. I'd always be conscious of it regardless of how it is displayed. Also it is another model that was produced in large numbers and they are usually always available. IMHO of course!
