Before I even hit my tweens, I was fascinated with 'cars of the future', and I'm grateful that my mother indulged me with these friction and metal toy banks, and somehow I never destroyed them in my teens when I was fascinated in blowing things up. LOL AND, unlike a lot of stuff I had, my father didn't give them away to the local kids when I was overseas in the Army. This friction motor Nash Airflyte survivor was one I had to have after seeing them on the Superman TV series. It survived with just a minor "Warp Factor" that jammed the friction motor into the rear window. It actually has metal bumpers and grill.
Mattel had two types of futuristic friction cars that offered a vision for 1960 when released in 1954... the XP-1960 Dream Cars. There's 2 roadsters here as well as a larger bubble top I still think these are pretty cool.
Banthrico offered this metal bank that took Chrysler's "Forward Look" to the extreme. I admit to beating this one up so I tried to smooth out the damage and repainted it. It sorta has a touch of the "Jetsons" to it.
I have a couple of others which I can't find either them or the pics. If I can find them, I'll post them if anyone is interested.
Love that Nash. I had this model when I gave away all of my promos early in the sixties. One of my brighter moves.
Great as always Rich. The XP-1960 cars kinda remind me of the Ford Mystere show car, minus the bubble top.😊
I thought I saw the only custom/concept in that metallic pink and black in DM's custom 53 Buick!
@perrone1 Cool. I don't remember ever seeing this custom before. It looks awesome.
