Betty's case handler Phillip Pino had demanded he be passed the hooch and as usual had drained more than his fair share of the jug the Warden had brought to the fishing outing that afternoon.  Heeding the call of nature he had drunkenly stumbled off into the nearby bushes of the Overscale Forest District Park and then passed out in the shade under one of the giant tree leaves.  When he awoke however, he was shocked and upset to discover he was alone and that it was morning; his colleagues had left without him!  Rubbing his aching head, Philip walked out of the bushes to the beach and was surprised to see that Betty's boat, with rod still in the holder, had been left behind at the lakeshore as well. Checking further he was alarmed when he realized that the fishing line was taut and extended a distance out into the lake.  Squinting into the sunrise Phillip gasped when he followed the line to something floating nearby.  Wading out towards the object he suddenly recoiled as he realized it was a body, with long blonde hair.  Panicking, Philip stumbled back to shore and called the Sheriff.  Having waited at the scene, he recounted the previous days events to Sheriff Buford who, coffee and donut in hand, subsequently summoned the Coroner.  Philip guessed that the inebriated Betty must have hooked a fish and gotten entangled in the line but then, being so buxom and top heavy, toppled into the water as she tried to net it.  As time passed it began to dawn on Philip that he and a number of his colleagues, including the Warden, were going to be looking for new jobs in the immediate future.

As old Red Trophy`s story was SOMEWHAT verified,Warden Fatmein was, shortly after the indecent, furloughed from his commission at Elevenworth Prison.........He had a time of it,sharing all his space with his childhood bride on a 24/7.....mostly they went out to watch the Marville Manglers high school ball team, but sometimes he would just sit on the deck, feeling somehow diminished, despite his considerable bulk

Replaying the Betty Below incident over and over in his mind.....there was just SOMETHING that didn`t ring true.....on a hunch, the Warden made a call over to Cantstay county,to his old pal Ed Jineer.....he asked how much trouble would it be to run out to Carl Slovenly`s "Cook Shack" to see if they`d taken in any recent tenants for the tiny third bedroom they let out.....He`d a gone himself, but,to tell the God`s honest, that place gave have him the heebie jeebies

The imagination 'round here is SO fertile, that I could plant 10-penny nails and 5 days later, harvest crow bars!!
