Tony,

I have seen posts on the history of this sites start and evolution but found this letter asking for support to keep it great.  Would the current owners ever consider means to restore reviews and forum posts from before 2020 when they were "rehosted" ?

It's been in the works for a while but the restoration did not achieve 100% results to duplicate the way the reviews and photo used to be.

One can search for models if you use the car model's code but many of the reviews have not been duplicated. Codes for FM found here:  http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/f/franklin_mint/franklin_mint.htm

And DM found here: http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/d/danbury_mint/danbury_mint.htm

I'm sad all the reviews were lost with the move to the new site.  I looked at them often and I personally did a review on every model in my collection.  Now it's lost to the clouds.  Oh well, the Diecast Forum itself has been a success in its new format, so that's important.  Thanks to everyone on this site who does so much to keep it running and a place for all of us to have sharing our love of cars and other things.  It's like an extension of our family...LOL, only most everyone here is nicer.  Smile

truth be told,NOTHING on the internet ever entirely ceases to exist......but the dizzying extent to which it can be secreted makes rediscovery an unlikely or most daunting task

A lot of us put many, many hours into that database pumping out pictorial reviews of the model and the car's history. It's crying shame. I don't understand why the format and data couldn't have been preserved.

I think being fair, from the sidelines (arm-chair quarterbacking it's called in football), we always think "we have the answers".  But truth be told, we're not in the game, so it is likely more involved and difficult than we assume it should be.  That said of course, I still do think it's a shame that all the reviews that all of us took the time over the years to add to that site, are lost.  Those reviews were helpful and insightful to all who love this model car collecting hobby.
