Before the SUV craze that replaced them, you had the 1969 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate wagon. Built on the Impala B body chassis, you could option this wagon to unheard of heights. Power went from a standard 327 to 300 HP 350 V8 taken from the Camaro all the way to a 390 HP 427. Computer generated suspension specs corresponding to the various options. Other options included a 6 or 9 passenger interior, disappearing headlamps, 15 color options, but standard was the faux wood trim and dual opening tail gate with optional power window. Automodello offers a fully optioned wagon in 5 colors with edition numbers from 49 to 99.
Very nice model; the black/tan is my favorite. It would be nice to see this one in 1/43.
I also am a wagon lover... thanks for sharing
I'm really indecisive with this one, yes, no, maybe?
Just as '40s woody wagons are classics with die-hard followings so too, in my view, art these faux-panelled wagons of the sixties & seventies. The silver looks particularly classy.
@rich-sufficool Thanks for the heads up Rich....I amended my post.
@charles-rockett Interesting! I had already photo graphed the first handbuilts when Jim Cowen said he's sending me a new color... silver. My first reaction was "Ugh!!!". I thought it would clash with the faux wood trim. When I got the piece, I fell in love with the silvery finish with its bluish tinge. Prior to that I was going to go with that eye-popping yellow, but wound up being seduced by that silver. I'm glad to see I'm in good company.
@pete-rovero I just heard from Jim Cowen as to shipping dates. Pre-orders will ship out this week with eBay purchases to follow. Then new orders will be fulfilled and he claims that all should arrive before Christmas. International sales? You will get them... sometime or another. LOL
WOW! I am so on the fence with this one. I love the model, but I just don't collect 1:24 scale models anymore. I'll probably cave and order one (just one) I'll have to say, the silver seems to be the most appealing.

I have the yellow one on order. One can never have enough station wagons IMO.
OMG! I am so WEAK! Weak, Weak, Weak! I keep trying to stop collecting this and 1:18 scales. I can do it as long as I don't go looking at the models. Thanks Rich, your photos are so awesome, I went to the Diecasm site and couldn't resist. I even went and blew my statement about "only getting 1" 'cause I ordered the silver & the red. They'll look great together.

You just can't go wrong, paint-wise, with ANY of them. Each and every one is beautiful. After due consideration, I'd likely say the medium blue, in last pics, is my favorite.
