What a great presentation and beautiful collection! 😍 Is it well protected from  sunlight? I keep my collection completely out of any daylight. My greatest fear is that the light will "yellow" the cars windows and white tires.

Hi Don, sorry for the late reply, busy couple of days. Yes I too am aware of the damaging effects of sunlight and take all precautions. The room is very well lit with wide windows however the only time there is direct sunlight is late afternoon when I always have the blinds closed. Reflections, even with the blinds closed make it hard to take pics of the displays. Heres a couple of the wall cases:

Heres the custom and hot rod case, with room for a few more.

Heres the first of the 20s 30s cars with one ring in 40 model to fill the case. Mostly Fords but a couple of GMs and others.

And the second of the 30s, European, British and U.S mostly prestige.

Most of my car room showcases/display cases are up and nearly full! Really, really pleased how its all turned out. I’ve had both wall display cases and showcases custom made to fit the room space, and model number requirements. The wall cases were made by a local plastics fabricator and hung/attached by a professional builder. The floor showcases made by a local company that targets the collector market along with retail etc.  Everything is pretty much full so I will order another, albeit smaller showcase, as I always intend to add to my collection.  I’ll just show the overall setting for now then add pics of individual shelves and groupings over time. Its just so good to have everything out on display. I started the collection in 1987 when FM first started selling here in Australia, bought a lot of their models until early 2000s when I found Roy Rauchs site, then ebay, then DMs great customer service and fair international shipping prices. So here we go!

Great presentation 😀. What a fantastic collection you have. I especially like the big display in the middle. I started almost 3 years ago collecting cars and figured out that 1:24 was the scale i most appreciated, made a timeline of it, but still don't know what period i want to focus on. I think there's some space left for 200-250 cars, but then have to decide what to collect.

Wow how good is that!? Those cases are great, and clearly you did the sensible thing and bought the cases at the same time as the models. I'm happy to collect models from any era from any country. If possible would really like to see pics of the individual cases please. Also your natural light appears to be exactly the same as mine.

Great collection and presentation!

Here are my rules in collecting:

Prewar cars ... and everything else that I like.

1/24 ... and everything else that I like in 1/43, 1/18 and 1/12.

Airstream design ... and everything else I like.

One theme is very consistent: top car exterior design from any era. In general, I don't collect: busses, trucks (unless hot rods), military equipment, farm equipment, president's cars, limos, hearses and other specialized vehicles). Ultra-rare models can always make an exception.

I use a room on the North side of my house so only in may/june/july a glimp of direct sunlight could come in. But i use the blinds all the time so windows of the cars in theory could not be effected. Temperature is pretty constant between 16 and 20 degrees C. Think that is also better for the cars paintjobs. Here some first pictures of the early days.

And i started with the target to collect only Danbury and Franklin mint. But then found out that there are even more realistic cars like CMC, Paul's model and the resin Hachettes, Fabbri, Leo Models and Automodello.

fantastic displays, thanks. Couple of questions, who makes the original Benz Motorwagen? And is the car next to the wooden Rolls the FM red Stutz? Also the green PMA 770 Emporers car fits so well with the red version. I'm still trying to get the base off my Alfa 1930 6C Zagato!

You guys are missing this:

1929 Cord L-29 Coupe by Hayes for Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky chassis 2927005 in blue in 1:24 scale by Esval by Esval Models (legacydiecast.com)

Although the pictures posted on the legacy website are from the 1/43 version.

Thank you. The Motorwagen is made by Rio and the Motorkutsche made by Danhausen in the 80s with nice boxes because of 100 years Mercedes-Daimler. The red car beside the wooden RR is indeed a red Stutz Bearcat. And to be honest i wrecked the base of the Alfa out of frustration because of the idiotic screws Hachette uses for it's models. 😞 After that i bought 2 triangle screwdrivers especially for Hachette and they work perfectly 😁
